Mike Bowman, Pastor
My wife Debbie and I have completed, by the grace of God, 6 full years here at Lagoon Baptist Church and we have seen God move in mighty ways that only He can. Almost as a revitalization situation, we have seen God grow this church into a healthy, loving family that allows God to work through his people. We understand that we are so blessed to serve here at Lagoon.
In our over 40 years of marriage God has worked in our lives in many different ways. While serving in the U.S. Air Force, he allowed us to be a part of different churches and different ministries. During that time we served as Sunday school teachers, Youth and Children Choir directors, R.A. & G.A leaders as well as Youth and Music directors, all of course in a volunteer capacity.
After moving back to the Birmingham Alabama area, after the military, we plugged in to a wonderful church, Cedar Grove Baptist in Leeds Al, and that is where we felt the call to full time ministry. God allowed us to serve at Cedar Grove as Bi-Vocational Music Minister for a number of years.

Then God called us to serve here at Lagoon Baptist as full time Music and Youth minister back in 2001. We served here for almost five years and then He called us back to Cedar Grove in a full time capacity, where we served for nine years as Youth and Music minister.

Back in 2013 we took a break from church ministry and poured into a group of foster children at the Florida Baptist Childrens Home in Jacksonville Florida for a short time. However, God was not finished with us working in the local church. A year later we were back working in Children and Music ministry at First Baptist of Screven GA.

After serving with those wonderful folks for five years, God had a major change for us in mind and we were called back here to Lagoon as Pastor. Even through the struggles of pastoring a revitalization church, the joy of seeing God's plan unfold right before our eyes has been amazing.
God is doing a mighty work here at Lagoon.

Chris Smith, Student Pastor
Chris Smith was born and raised in West Virginia. He accepted what Jesus did for him on the cross at four years of age, quickly becoming the most important part of his life. During his senior year of high school, Chris heard God’s calling to preach His Word. At eighteen years old he continued to follow God’s direction in his life moving to Florida to attend Pensacola Christian College for both his undergraduate degree and later graduate school. His first ministry included serving the Gulf Shores and Orange Beach area working as the Student pastor at Central Church Flora-Bama for over two years. God has directed him to our church family where he can continue serving this community and teaching students about Jesus and His way.
